COVID-19 Vaccination Community Partnerships
I led L.A. Care Health Plan’s COVID-19 vaccination community outreach and partnerships strategy, which contributed to a 30% increase on the number of L.A. Care vaccinated members, as compared to the baseline measure.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Partnered with over 40 community-based, education, public health, and faith-based organization to sponsor over 50 vaccination events in vaccine-hesitant neighborhoods experiencing low vaccination rates, primarily targeting Black and Latinx communities.
These include events organized in partnership with BIPOC-led community outreach organizations which implemented vaccine strategies specifically targeting BIPOC communities.
These events resulted in over 5,250 vaccines administered in the highest-need neighborhoods.

Antelope Valley Week of Action
Partnered with the L.A. County Department of Public Health, UCLA, Fulgent, and Antelope Valley Partners for Health (AVPH) to offer vaccinations and vaccine education through door-to-door and crowd canvassing in L.A. County’s rural Antelope Valley community during a “Week of Action”.
This resulted in 1,393 face-to-face conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine and 78 administered vaccines in one of L.A. County’s most under-vaccinated communities.
Faith-Based Events
Worked with BIPOC-led firms to host events with faith-based organizations in under-vaccinated communities, with a special emphasis on Black and Latinx neighborhoods.

Los Angeles Department of Public Health Vaccine Clinics at Community Resource Centers
L.A. Care conducted over 10 vaccine clinics at CRCs located throughout L.A. County. These events provided Medi-Cal and CMC beneficiaries ages 12 and older convenient and easily accessible locations and hours to get vaccinated
A total of 515 vaccines were administered
In addition to vaccination, L.A. Care hosted food pantries at the vaccination events
COVID-19 SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
Launched a robust social media campaign in March 2020, which:
Combated misinformation about COVID-19 illness and public health guidance
Set the groundwork to reinforce the need for vaccination against COVID-19 when the vaccine became available to the general public

CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS
Actor Jaime Camil and Inland Empire Health Plan
L.A. Care and IEHP partnered with actor Jaime Camil to produce PSAs that encouraged vaccination and return to care; the project included TV spots, radio spots and two Instagram Live Q&As on these topics.
Leonard Nimoy Family and Paramount
L.A. Care partnered with the family of the late Leonard Nimoy, the legendary actor of the historic television series, Star Trek™, on a Live Long and Prosper billboard and social media campaign to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations and mask use. Nimoy was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in 2013, and he dedicated the last two years of his life to raising awareness about the progressive lung disease. His family knew that he would have been an outspoken proponent of mask use and vaccination during the COVID-19 crisis, which saw so many suffer lung damage. Billboards were located throughout Los Angeles County, in under-vaccinated communities.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Health
L.A. Care partnered with MLK Community Healthcare to host a live interview with infectious disease doctor, Dr. Maita Kuvhenguhwa on February 16, 2022. The video garnered over 15,840 impressions.
Employee Testimonials
L.A. Care featured employee testimonials on the importance of vaccination on its social media channels, to help build vaccine confidence in the Black community.
Digital Health Promoters
Launched a “Digital Health Promoters” pilot on Facebook to increase social media engagement with COVID-19 vaccine content and promote vaccination.
